Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli:
The natural resources of a nation serve as its wealth, and safeguarding these resources is paramount/ It's not merely about possessing trees; it's about fostering afforestation practices/ Highlighting the importance of afforestation in the Islamic religion.
Esra News Agency: Dr. Abbas Ali Nobakht, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and the Head of the country's National Resources and Watershed Management Organization, together with a delegation, met and conversed with Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli at his house, to mark the commencement of the Natural Resources Week and Tree Planting Day.
During this meeting, Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli expressed: We, the people of Iran, are a great and noble people, not just the seminary and university students, but all the people of Iran are great and nobles because they have an identity, a history, a geography, and a country with a history and geography is an eminent country. Wherever you go in Iran, remnants of its ancient civilization abound, unlike a nation such as America that lacks such an ancient geographical and historical depth. Iranians have lived with dignity for millennia, therefore, the status of such an esteemed people is not restless life!
His Eminence voiced about the importance of preserving our forests, trees, natural resources, and the wildlife within them. It's crucial not devastate the trees, refrain from hunting forest animals, and avoid causing them any harm, as they represent the wealth of our nation that we must safeguard.
His Excellency further emphasized the significance of not just tree conservation but active tree planting as well. Quoting the esteemed Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him and his infallible household), who highlighted the value of planting trees by saying,
«إن قامَتِ السَّاعةُ و في يَدِ أحَدِكُم فَسِيلَةٌ ، فإنِ استَطاعَ أن لا يَقومَ حتّى يَغرِسَها فَلْيَغرِسْها»
"If the Hour (Doomsday, the Day of Resurrection) is established while one of you has a palm shoot in his hand which he can plant before it is established, he should plant it." This importance of planting trees is emphasized in Islam, not saying that if you wanted to die in an hour, but that even if the Hour is about to happen, you should take action to plant the sapling you are holding in your hand.
Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli stated: The country's assets must be preserved. The youth and loved ones who go to other countries should return to the country and participate in the country's development, and everyone should recognize their worth, while neither they must go astray nor they should obstruct anyone’s path, so that, God willing, they can pass on this divine system to its rightful owner.
At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Abbasali Nobakht, Deputy Minister of Agricultural Jihad and Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Watershed Management of the country, presented a report on the activities of the Department of Natural Resources to His Excellency.
