During this meeting, Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli remarked: We, the people of Iran, are a proud and noble nation; ‘we’, is not referred only to the clergymen, ‘we’ is not referred to the academics, indeed, [by the word] ‘we’ we mean [all] the people of Iran. If you search the entirety of America, you will not find a single ancient artifact, yet wherever you walk in Iran, you encounter with traces of art and antiquities. Since the time of Anushirvan, we have had universities here, and after the advent of Islam, we nurtured great scholars like Sheikh Tusi and others of his caliber.
The people are aware that they must respect the laws of the country; thus, if they observe that there are no astronomical sums or instances of embezzlement, they too will respect and uphold the law.
The words of God, the Prophet, and the Infallible Household carry absolute certainty, one hundred percent. We must recognize that the sword of a sharp one hundred percent (certainty) is in our hands, while the stick, symbolizing the temptations and misguidances that represent twenty or thirty percent, lies in the hands of desires, corruption, [financial misdeeds such as] embezzlement and astronomical [salaries]. We have been cautioned that woe to anyone who, wielding a sharp one hundred percent sword, succumbs to the feeble twenty percent stick.
We have had dear ones who showed immense resilience during the frigid winters of Kurdistan, enduring so much to protect their strongholds that they succumbed to the cold and achieved martyrdom! When their bodies were brought to the Grand Mosque of Qom, we typically recite the Quran and Fatiha in mourning assemblies and usually do not stay until the end. However, that night I stayed until the assembly concluded and kept weeping, not for divine reward, but out of deep shame for what they endured!
Now, there are such youths who must be cherished, as they are our treasures.
Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, in advising students, stated: One should associate with and interact with someone whose behavior and words remind them of God.
